Backhand Slice

  • Approach the shot by turning to the left so that your hips are squared up to the sideline forming a close stance with a continental grip
  • Left hand is placed on the throat of the racquet for support
  • Slowly take back the racquet at a height just above contact point
  • Wrists should remain locked and racquet head should remain up
  • Racquet face should be slightly open all the way through the finish
  • Contact should be out in front with weight shifting to right foot, right shoulder slightly dipping down and right arm near full extension
  • Do not swing through the shot
  • Finish should be right near the contact point
